3 most popular breakfast recipes of India

Breakfast is not only breaking the fast after a night long sleep but it is also the start of new fresh day. A satisfying breakfast is capable of uplifting your mood for the entire day, and this satisfaction depends on our likes, bent of mind and other such factors. Like for some people sprouts or other such recipes may bring satisfaction, for others taste buds are more important. Overall today we are going to sum-up few of the popular breakfast recipes of India.

1.        Dhokla Recipe In Hindi: Dhokla is a very popular recipe of Gujarat state but now it is popular in almost every part of the country. The most popular reason for it’s popularity in my eyes is the fact that Dhokla is handy for both those who are health conscious as well as those who are more conscious about satisfying their taste buds.

2.        Poha Recipe In Hindi: Poha is also a popular breakfast form particularly in central India. Poha made with very less spices and steamed flattened rice, is also very light and tasty. Most importantly Poha could be coupled with several items, like Jalebi for sweet lovers or chhola for those who have a salty taste.

3.      Pav Bhaji Recipe In Hindi: Pav Bhaji is originally a dish of Maharashtra but its popularity could now be well understood from the fact that it is now available in restaurants all over the country. Almost every restaurant serves Pav Bhaji. A lot depends on the taste of Bhaji which is served with Pav. And the taste of Bhaji differs with seasons, as the type of vegetables used in preparing it changes.

World Book Day 2021: Why books are one of the best discoveries of mankind?

Though the first known printed book—The Diamond Sutra—a book on Buddhism in Chinese was said to be printed in year 868 AD. History of manuscripts on leafs, barks, stone writings is further old.

Unlike now when, we only type a text, record a video or audio, or click a picture and put it on internet, it becomes available for everyone and may remain alive forever things were not the same when our journey on this planet started.

Same was not the case in ancient times. There was no way to preserve knowledge gained by experience than to convey it orally from generation to generation. Until the day we discovered symbols, then improved further to finer symbols, assigned symbols to prevalent oral nomenclature (names that our ancient ancestors gave to the things they were surrounded by in their oral language) and then gradually were able to develop scripts. Then started writing those scrips on stones or other such available articles, then gradually moved to barks, trees, clothes…. and finally on papers.

But giving a simple thought over the life that was, before we learned to write—rather learned to record our knowledge, emotions and messages—suppose a man learned how to make a spear of stones in his life and a few of his fellow tribesmen also learned the same from him. They also taught the same to their children. However, two years down the line an epidemic or calamity killed the entire village. The knowledge that was earned in the entire lifetime of a generation was lost. More importantly when it comes to passing knowledge orally there are several limitations like limited number of people who could be taught. As there were no means of travel, it was also difficult to export this knowledge to other parts of the country or say world.

Now, think about the same scene post the development of scripts. Even the person who is not skilled in making a spear, can carry the information or knowledge about the skills of making a spear to other parts of the country or world by merely carrying the written texts (books) to those areas.

Thus, books not only help in conservation of knowledge, it also helped in easier and quicker dissemination of knowledge and thus accelerated our development process.

Indeed discovery of fire and invention of wheels were the biggest revolution of our tribal ancestors but without books there were fair chances that these information would have been lost and the several generations or centuries later, we would have to re-discover fire and re-invent wheels.

Happy World Book Day 2021

Top 5 Anti-gravity Places In India

Yes, you got it right these places in India really defy gravity. What I suggest is, it should also be researched that if Sir Isaac Newton had seen the apple (not falling to ground but flying above) at these places would our laws of gravity been different?

Jokes apart let’s find out about these anti-gravity places in India:

The Reverse Waterfall

Waterfalls look beautiful and it is relaxing to see water fall beautifully from such heights. But in this waterfall water moves upwards instead of falling down.

Naneghat waterfall also known as reverse waterfall is located near Pune in Maharashtra. It is now a popular tourist destination. Important question is why does it happen? Well it is considered that due to it’s typical location there are strong wind currents that forces water upwards

Ulta Paani or Bisar Pani

As the name suggests, here water streams do not flow downhill instead it flows uphill!

Yes, uphill. Ulta Pani or Bisar Pani as it is locally know is situated in Chhattisgarh’s Mainpet area. Mainpet is also called Shimla of Chhattisgarh. It is a place where Tibetan refugees were settled earlier by the government. The Bisar Pani is a matter of curiosity from many locals and tourists. Why does it happen there? Well, some say it is a sort of optical illusion created by nature.

A hill where vehicles move uphill!

Yes, this sounds surprising but it is a fact at Pandariya magnetic hill near Dewanpatpar village in Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh.

Vehicles instead of coming downwards from a hill slope upwards. This means if you park your vehicle without applying hand breaks on the foothills, the vehicle will climb up the slope!

This phenomena is attributed to optical illusions created by the topography.

A heavy pillar is hanging without any support for centuries!

This pillar is one of the architectural mysteries. One of the many pillars at the Lepakshi temple situated in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh literally hangs from the roof!

There are a total of 70 pillars and one of the pillars is does not touch the ground. One can literally pass objects from its base.

At this hill never park your vehicle without brakes!

Cyclops hill in Ladakh also known as magnetic hill is a small stretch of road situated at a distance of around 30 kilometres from Leh city.

It is said that if a car is left with it’s engine switched off, it will roll up the hill at a speed of upto 20 kilometres per hour! But why? Again the same explanation, it is said to be apparent due to some sort of optical illusion.

A sweet & silent Hindi love story...

When it comes to love stories in Hindi literature the first name that comes to our mind is 'Gunaho Ka Devta' by Dharmvir Bharti.
Indeed this book has a great contribution in Hindi literature and I think like Munshi Premchand's literature which introduces a reader to hindi literture when he is a teenager. It is this book of Dharmvir Bharti that back brings back those teenager again to hindi literature when they are in thier youth.
However, what today I am going to talk is not about these two authors but it is about another book, the book which is kno wn in literary circles but I think it did not get the readership it deserved from common readers. Especially in this era of online books and online bookstores, where English is prevalent, stories like these often go unnoticed.
'Kasap'-A soft and simple love story with the sweetness of Kumaoni language by Manohar Shyam Joshi.
The book is about an orphan boy who was brought up by his relatives. Like most of the orphan children who are brought up on the mercy of their relatives, he too is considered a fool, a semi-lunatic types. The beauty of the novel lies in its simplicity, in scene where the hero meets the heroine for the first time, unlike other romantic creations, this hero is in latrine!
Joshi even comments, on this occassion, when my hero is in latrine how can I make him sit near some very lush green pond.
The use of Kumaoni in the narrative, like people asking any stranger, "Kaun Huey" means they are asking who are you? And the stranger is expected to not only tell his name but also tell his village, his father and his ancestors name.
A very philosophical and tragic scene which is often missed by the readers in this novel is, the scene of the death of hero's father. He was considered as lunatic and used to show people magic. One day he summons all the villagers near a hill and tells them that he will show magic, he will fly in the air. When the villagers gather, he jumps and dies.
The novel ends at the same hilltop, this time the hero and the daughter of the heroine are on it.
Buy books online, read it I promise you will enjoy.
Happy reading!

The multi-utility of a Condom!

Condom—mention of this five letter word pulls up a smile, sometimes mischievous, sometimes romantic, or sometimes it’s just smiling to ourselves types of smile.
But hey we all know the use of condoms! Don’t we?
Yeah, of course we do know the ‘uses’ of condoms, but what I am talking about is my latest discovery of an utility of this marvelous invention of mankind and I can swear none of you would have heard and even imagined about it.

Have heart guys!
I will narrate the entire episode that made me smile, but in a different way!

A dear friend of mine, whom we often refer to as, ‘teddy bear’ given to his 100+ weight. Visited my place recently.
It was raining, we roamed here and there, had fun and returned home late in the night. Tired of mid-night nomadic wanderings just wanted to retire on bed.
We were preparing the bed when to my shock, he took out a packet of condom from his pocket!
I didn’t ask anything at first, thinking he might have purchased condoms for the good times ahead (he is married and lives away from his beloved wife and was about to catch a train, the next day to reach her).
But no, this was not the case.
He did not stop by just taking out the packet, but opened it up.
Unable to resist my curiousness I asked at once, “Abey kya karega iska? (What will you do with this?)”
“Ruk na” (just wait) was his reply.
He took out the condom and wore it.
No, no, dear readers you are wrong here, he didn’t wore it on ***** but he wore it on the thumb of his right leg!

He had an injury in his thumb and got his nail removed by surgery recently. The injury needed to be dressed daily and while we were roaming it got drenched.
He wore it over the injury before sleeping. Amazed I asked why?
His answer was real a googly.

Picture taken on condition that face wont be shown

“Yar I am heavy. Mai jab sota hu na toh ismey chot lag jaati hai dressing bhi khul jaata hai, phir nahane mey v taklif aati hai. (When I sleep, my injury gets hurt, dressing over the wound gets opened and I get trouble due to the wound while taking bath)”, he said, while wearing the condom on his thumb.
“Condoms are sterilized so there is no risk of infection. They are soft and get wrapped up around the thumb so it reduces the chances of getting hurt and lastly I can easily take bath in the morning as these condoms are waterproof. It’s coz of these features I am wearing it on my thumbs from the day I had the surgery,” he said replying to my wide opened curious eyes.
What a genius he is! LOL
